Powder Dosing Units
There are many water and wastewater treatment technologies – as well as other manufacturing activities – where powdered material must be dosed precisely. Powder dosers are used for the continuous or batch dosing of such powders and granules.
The main components of the equipment
- hopper
- discharge auger
- powder sensor
- motor
The hopper stores the material to be dosed, with a capacity of 5–50 litres. For materials prone to clumping or bridging, the hopper can be fitted with an agitating or "shaking" unit. The consumption of the material is detected by a powder sensor probe, which sends a warning signal to the operator.
The dosed quantity can be regulated by changing the size of the auger and the speed of the drive motor. The dosing range can vary between 0.5 and 5.0 kg/h. The most commonly dosed materials are polyelectrolytes, clarifiers, aluminium sulfate, activated carbon, etc.
